Fazenda Trapia was purchased in 2005 by Andrea de Souza Rangel and Renato Pita de Moura. The couple had previously worked in IT and Insurance respectively but wanted to change their career paths and indulge their lifelong passion for farming. Despite having no background in commercial agriculture, they took on the farm and its 70 hectares of coffee trees and have not looked back since.

The farm is situated in the Sul de Minas region of Minas Gerais and goes from 1,150 metres to 1400 metres above sea level. This is pretty high altitude for Brazilian coffee and makes the location some of the best in the country for producing outstanding coffee. These geographical features combined with great varieties like yellow bourbon and top notch processing make an ideal recipe for success and this is one of the tastiest and most complex Brazilian coffees we have come across in a while. This lot also comes from the higher sectors of the farm and is hand harvested due to the steep terrain.

As well as the 70 hectares of coffee Andrea and Renata have a further 370 hectares of land that is either designated as wildlife corridors or is used for sustainable forestry. The farm has around 40,000 local Candeia trees that are used for ethical and sustainable logging.
