Win Bottle Of Greensand Ridge London Dry Gin
So, this isn’t really about coffee. In fact, it’s not about coffee at all. This is about a friend of Small Batch doing something that we really admire and love.
In May of this year, Will resigned from his city job to pursue his dreams and turn his hobby of creating fantastic, artisanal alcoholic beverages into his job. He began brewing beer before he was legally allowed to drink it and served his own homemade cider alongside the champagne at his wedding.
Some of Will's early home brewing equipment
After returning to university to study Brewing & Distilling, buying an old Coach House and spending a whole load of time, money and effort knocking down beams, cleaning up squirrel droppings and installing some of the pimpest looking sweet and shiny distillery equipment you could imagine, Greensand Ridge Distillery was born.
The Greensand Ridge still. Shiny.
Based in the Weald of Sussex & Kent, Will’s philosophy is superbly simple and sustainable. Working with local farmers, he buys surplus produce that can’t be sold to supermarkets and uses it to create awesome spirits. Fruit and botanicals that would otherwise end up in landfill, simply because of a few dimples on an apple or sunbleaching on some raspberries are instead transformed into beautifully crafted spirits.

Will says "The Blood & Sand is one of my favourite cocktails. The Princeton is a similar beast, but made with Gin, Port and orange, it's a Christmas Cracker! And the hints of nuttiness in our Gin really works here."
50ml Greensand Ridge London Dry Gin
10ml Sugar syrup
3 dashes orange bitters
Stir the gin, syrup and bittters with the ice well to get some dilution, then pour into a coupe glass. Gently pour the port down the side of the glass so it layers under the orangey Gin. No garnish.
Small Batch / Greensand Ridge Mashup Raspberry Espresso Martini
50ml Greensand Ridge Rasberry Ghost
35ml coffee liqueur
25ml of Small Batch Espresso (you could use an Aeropress here)
Put in a shaker and go completely insane with it, then strain through a sieve into a chilled glass to give a nice foamy froth, and garnish with a fresh raspberry.
